Award-winning winemaker Andre van Rensburg ensures that Vergelegen's handcrafted wines reach the highest possible level of satisfaction.
Andre won twice the coveted Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de La Lande trophy for the best red blend at the International Wine and Spirits competition in 2001 and 2003. Andre obtained his Hons. B.Sc. Agric (Oenology), Cum Laude, at the University of Stellenbosch in 1987 under the professorship of Joel van Wyk. He spent time at Saxenburg, Kuilsriver and was General Manager of Warwick in Muldersvlei from 1991 to 1993. He joined Stellenzicht in 1993 where he received numerous awards for his wines and became well known for the outstanding Stellenzicht Syrah, notwithstanding the fact that his 1996 Sauvignon Blanc was nominated as the South African Champion white wine. | |
